2nd Amendment Group Challenges Democrats To Disarm Their Guards At Convention – “It’s Time To Put Up Or Shut Up”

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) distributed a press released on April 5 calling for the Democratic Party to “practice what they preach” by telling the security guards at the upcoming Democratic Convention to unarm themselves. The Democratic Convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 25th-July 28th.

From the release, the CCRKBA clearly wants “Democrats to gather at the Wells Fargo Center without the protection of armed police, Secret Service, or private security personnel.” Simply put, the CCRKBA wants the Democratic Party to have their convention in a gun-free zone similar to what they expect for kids and teachers in public schools all over the country. Alan Gottlieb, the Chairman of CCRKBA, recently said, “Democrats have become known as the party of gun control. Virtually all recent gun control proposals at the federal and state levels have been launched and championed by Democrats. It’s time for the party to ‘put up or shut up’ about guns. The best way to do that is to forsake armed security during the convention.

Later, Alan Gottlieb explained that, “If a political party believes guns do not make us safer, they should set an example by rejecting any and all forms of armed security at their national convention. No group, organization or political party that makes erosion of a constitutionally delineated fundamental civil right part of its agenda should benefit in any way from the existence of that right.”

Alan Gotltlieb’s petition has a sections that includes “If a political party believes that guns do not make us safer, they should set an example by rejecting any and all forms of armed security at their convention. A party that does not believe in the right of individual citizens to keep and bear arms should not benefit from the safety provided by others who bear arms.” The CCRKBA has also created a petition to gain signatures in support of banning any and all guns at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on July 25th through July 28th.
